About the position

The Park Ranger position at Arizona State Parks and Trails involves managing and conserving the natural, cultural, and recreational resources of the parks. The role includes providing customer service, ensuring public safety, and interpreting natural features for visitors. The ranger will work under the supervision of the Assistant Manager and will be responsible for various tasks including maintenance, cash handling, and leading educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all visitors.
  • Collect fees by following proper policies and procedures for cash handling and processing credit cards.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of reservation software to assist customers, collect fees, and conduct compliance.
  • Clean restrooms, repair small equipment, perform basic carpentry and electrical repairs, and maintain landscapes.
  • Complete all training required for this position and any additional duties in a timely manner.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, UTVs, and equipment including hand and power tools and landscape equipment.
  • Promote public safety by educating the public on park rules and regulations.
  • Lead seasonal employees and volunteers in various park projects.
  • Assist in managing any emergency situation that may occur in the park.
  • Interpret natural features of the area and historic objects/artifacts for visitors.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
  • Basic first Aid training is required.
  • Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Intermediate; OR three years of work experience in customer service work; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field.
