About the position

The Parking Officer at California State University, Monterey Bay is responsible for enforcing campus parking regulations and providing public safety support. This role involves issuing citations, assisting law enforcement, and offering customer service at the University Police Department. The officer will work under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for Public Safety and will be required to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Issue parking citations and warnings for violations of campus and state parking regulations.
• Provide customer service at the University Police Department, assisting with requests for information and service in public safety matters.
• Perform various functions in support of public safety and student employment, including training and overseeing the Live Scan process.
• Direct traffic for special events and public safety emergencies.
• Maintain and perform minor service on parking dispensers/meters.
• Participate in community relations and crime prevention activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
• Three to six months of related experience in public service or law enforcement.

Nice-to-haves

• Two or more years of experience in an adversarial environment related to public service such as parking operations or law enforcement.
• Working knowledge of applicable procedures and regulations related to parking and traffic control.
• Technical fluency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google email.
