About the position

The Parking & Security Attendant position is a vital role within the Department of Facility Maintenance, specifically in the Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division. This full-time position is located in Honolulu, HI, and offers a monthly salary of $3,220. The primary responsibility of the Parking & Security Attendant is to ensure the safety and security of City employee and designated public parking areas and facilities. This role requires the individual to wear a uniform and badge, signifying their authority and responsibility in maintaining order and enforcing regulations. Under the general direction of the Parking Lots, Motor Pool Services & Security Supervisor, the attendant will enforce applicable ordinances, rules, and regulations in government parking areas. This includes conducting security watches, patrolling, and inspecting all designated facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Facility Maintenance. The attendant will also perform duties as a special police officer, commissioned by the Chief of Police, to enforce all non-moving traffic regulations within City employee and designated public parking metered areas. In addition to security duties, the Parking & Security Attendant will respond to disturbances, maintain order in city offices and buildings, and participate in motor pool activities. The role also involves various general office duties such as answering phones, inputting data, creating spreadsheets, drafting and typing memos and incident reports, responding to emails, and operating a computer with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access. This position is essential for ensuring a safe and orderly environment for both employees and the public.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be able to wear a uniform and badge as required by the position.
  • Experience in operating a computer with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to conduct security patrols and inspections effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for responding to disturbances and maintaining order.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or security-related fields is preferred.
  • Familiarity with traffic regulations and enforcement procedures.
