About the position

The Parks Maintainer position within the Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and lead construction, repair, and maintenance work in City-owned parks, trails, and open spaces. This role is essential in ensuring that the community's parks and recreational areas are well-maintained and enjoyable for all residents.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled and lead construction, repair, and maintenance work in parks, trails, and open spaces.
• Operate a variety of mowing and park construction equipment safely and efficiently.
• Make minor repairs to equipment as needed.
• Work collaboratively in a team and independently as required.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain effective working relationships with the public and colleagues.
• Flexibly work mandatory overtime during winter for snow removal and salting duties.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge and working experience of agricultural and turf management practices.
• Knowledge and experience with park construction equipment and ability to operate it safely.
• Ability to work well in both team and individual settings.
• Good visual acuity for driving and physical strength, agility, and stamina to withstand adverse weather conditions.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to maintain effective relationships.
