About the position

The Parks Program Specialist is a part-time role within the Parks Special Events Division of the Parks and Recreation Department in Oklahoma City. This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating events, managing facility operations, and assisting with various Parks and Recreation programs and activities. The role involves planning, promoting, and executing program activities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining necessary documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate events and facility operations.
  • Plan, promote, and execute program activities.
  • Maintain required forms such as event permits and facility inspections.
  • Conduct program participation surveys and report outcomes.
  • Handle and adjust complaints from patrons or facility tenants.
  • Explain facility services and programs to the public and program participants.
  • Present programs such as music, dance, art, craft, cultural, natural science, swimming, and sports.
  • Perform general park inspections and portable restroom audits.
  • Report on homeless encampments and potential damages after permitted events.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Mid-level Driver's License required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Experience in event coordination and facility management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with computerized ticketing systems and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $17.50 - $22.50 depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Flexible part-time hours, working no more than 29 hours per week.
