As a Parole and Probation Officer in Lincoln County, your primary responsibility is to investigate, supervise, counsel, and direct adult offenders in accordance with the agency's mission and statutory requirements. This role is crucial in ensuring that offenders comply with the conditions of their supervision as established by releasing authorities. You will be expected to perform your duties in alignment with Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 137.630, which governs the supervision of offenders in the community. Your essential functions will include enforcement, intervention, and control, where you will be responsible for arresting, detaining, searching, and transporting offenders. You will also provide investigative services regarding offenders placed in the community, make court appearances, and provide testimony as needed. Conducting assessments to determine offender risk and needs will be a key part of your case planning responsibilities, along with maintaining chronological case histories. Monitoring offender compliance and progress is vital, which includes collecting urine samples for testing and visiting offenders both in their homes and in the field. You will coordinate treatment, housing, and community resources to assist offenders, prepare legal documents, and act as a liaison with various stakeholders, including law enforcement and community partners. Additionally, you will be responsible for training other Probation Officers as needed and ensuring the accuracy of records by entering offender data into the statewide CIS/OMS system and maintaining complete case files. This position requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including offenders, community partners, and law enforcement agencies. You will need to be prepared to respond to emergency situations, which may involve physical confrontations and working irregular hours.
