About the position

Responsibilities

  • Prepare background reports on offenders for sentencing.
  • Supervise offenders on community supervision, including those on probation or parole.
  • Manage a caseload that may include sex offenders and those on electronic monitoring.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures to meet operational goals.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and maintain public safety.
  • Conduct investigations and evaluate findings related to offenders.
  • Communicate effectively with offenders and the public.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, social work, or related fields.
  • For Parole/Probation Officer 10: One year of professional experience working with adult offenders.
  • For Parole/Probation Officer P11: Two years of professional experience working with adult offenders, including one year at the 10-level.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work under stress and in hazardous situations.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice policies and procedures.
  • Skills in conflict resolution and negotiation.
