About the position

The Part Inspector role at VirTra, Inc. involves the inspection of incoming and internally manufactured products to ensure they meet quality standards. The position requires proficiency in operating various inspection tools and equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and hand tools, while maintaining compliance with ISO standards. The inspector will assist in creating inspection procedures and documentation, perform detailed inspections, and communicate with suppliers regarding quality assurance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming products and internally manufactured products for quality assurance.
  • Set up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and MicroVu for part inspection.
  • Assist with first piece buy-off, in-process inspection, final inspection, and incoming inspection.
  • Create and update inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.
  • Coordinate calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Implement and maintain quality requirements and standards (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Maintain quality records and documentation in accordance with the quality manual and customer requirements.
  • Perform visual, in-process, and final dimensional inspections using standard measurement instruments.
  • Document non-conformances on materials, parts, or processes.
  • Review supplier paperwork to verify material pass/fail criteria against engineering requirements.
  • Perform detailed inspections on both electrical and mechanical components at the piece part and sub-assembly levels.
  • Operate ERP systems and maintain computer knowledge for inspection processes.
  • Participate in internal quality audits and promote quality standards and inspection processes.
  • Interface with supplier quality representatives to address quality assurance issues.
  • Manage and log time worked daily by project/job code.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience inspecting parts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Moderate knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, or ISO 13485.
  • Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Knowledge of Epicor (ERP) is preferred.
  • Ability to operate inspection equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
