About the position
The Part-Time 4-H Summer Assistant/Intern at The Pennsylvania State University is responsible for supporting the County 4-H team in delivering high-quality youth development programs. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating various educational activities and events for youth, ensuring their safety and supervision, and contributing to the overall success of summer programs and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and evaluate age-appropriate 4-H events, activities, and projects for youth.
- Monitor children and ensure their safety and whereabouts during programs.
- Participate in regional or state events as appropriate.
- Support summer 4-H educational programs, camps, contests, and fundraisers.
- Record registration, chaperone, conduct workshops, and assist with management of shows and contests.
- Write news releases and social media posts to promote programs.
- Assist with survey data entry as needed.
- Collaborate with staff in planning and conducting programs and events.
- Help the Educator reach new and inclusive audiences in line with Penn State's Affirmative Action Policy.
- Submit work time and travel reports for reimbursement.
- Establish and maintain summer files and complete end-of-summer reports.
Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in planning and teaching educational programs and activities.
- Ability to work with diverse youth and adults.
- Must be able to carry equipment and educational materials.
Nice-to-haves
- Undergraduate coursework in education, agriculture, sciences, or related fields.
- Previous experience with the 4-H program.
