About the position

Lakeview Cemetery Association is seeking a Part-time Staff Accountant to manage financial records and support human resources functions. This role requires approximately 18-20 hours of work per week, focusing on accurate financial reporting and organizational support. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and organizational skills, and will report directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general accounting and related duties for the organization.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and accounts payable.
  • Assist with creating the annual budget process.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly and cash applications.
  • Reconcile cash, accounts payable, and fixed assets.
  • Verify and complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Support outside auditors by gathering necessary information and documents for the annual audit.
  • Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems.
  • Assist with the creation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain fixed assets and capital expenses.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for board meetings and other organizational needs.
  • Organize and maintain human resources and personnel files using ADP.
  • Assist with benefit management, including retirement plans.
  • Create policies related to accounting, HR, employee handbooks, and spending.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Complete special accounting projects using Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Provide general support to the office as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • High level knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS365.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong administrative experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-motivated to learn new technology.
  • High level knowledge of QuickBooks, including GL, AP, Banking, and Reporting modules.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP.
  • Strong overall computer skills.
  • Proficient in human resources functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • ADP payroll experience (desired, not required).
  • Base knowledge of human resources.
