About the position

The City of Cedar Hill is seeking an individual to join the Fire Department, providing administrative support under the direction of the Public Safety Executive Assistant. This role emphasizes premier customer service to both employees and the general public while assisting in the operation of the Fire Department. Responsibilities include accounts payable, payroll, document management, and support for special events. The position requires a commitment to the City’s values of High Standards, Teamwork, Premier Customer Service, Family Oriented, and Fun.

Responsibilities

  • Provide premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform various projects and administrative duties as assigned, including organizing meetings, responding to inquiries and complaints, and maintaining files.
  • Assist in preparation for City Council Meetings by drafting agenda items and proofing agendas.
  • Coordinate and execute the Citizen's Fire Academy and departmental gatherings, including retirement celebrations and swearing-in ceremonies.
  • Provide departmental support with various files and documents, including complaints, internal affairs, and payroll.
  • Assist with records management and open records requests, maintaining files and databases.
  • Serve as a liaison of the Fire Department to other City departments and community groups as needed.
  • Regular attendance required, including after-hour special events.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to the City’s values.
  • Strong aptitude for technology and proficiency in various digital tools, platforms, and programs.
  • At least six months of related experience required.
  • Valid TX driver's license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
