About the position

The Part-time Art Teacher at St. James the Apostle Catholic School is responsible for guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. This role involves developing and implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and fostering student growth while adhering to the policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters and adhere to safety training and protocols.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school's curriculum program.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate.
• Technology proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet use for educational purposes.
• Demonstrated competency in the subject assigned area(s).
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in developing lesson plans for diverse learning styles.
• Ability to manage student behavior effectively.
• Experience with multimedia presentations.
