About the position

The Part-Time Assistant Manager at IU Dining and Hospitality is responsible for assisting in the management and administration of dining services, including overseeing meal preparation and service, scheduling employees, and managing inventory. This role supports the operational needs of dining facilities while ensuring high standards of customer service and food safety are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and supervises employees and oversees meal preparation and service.
  • Assists with budget preparation and monitoring, inventory control, and financial report analysis.
  • Rotates promotions and assists with brand management.
  • Represents the dining unit management team in the absence of the general manager or assistant managers.
  • Works alongside frontline staff to meet operational needs during high-volume service periods.
  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling staff, and managing inventory.

Requirements

  • General knowledge at the high school level.
  • 1 year of food service supervisory experience.
  • Food Safety (ServSafe Manager) certification within 180 days from date of hire.
  • Knowledge of institutional food preparation equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills.
