About the position

The Assistant Store Manager will oversee the daily operations of a self-storage facility, ensuring excellent customer service and efficient management of the property. This role involves handling customer inquiries, conducting inspections, managing sales, and maintaining the facility's appearance. The Assistant Store Manager will also be responsible for training staff and implementing marketing strategies to enhance business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the self-storage facility.
  • Handle customer inquiries and problems in a timely manner.
  • Implement and enforce procedures from the Operations Policy & Procedure Manual.
  • Conduct daily inspections and audits of the facility.
  • Sell store merchandise and storage rentals.
  • Conduct tours for potential leads.
  • Collect rent, deposits, and fees in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and manage petty cash and credit card transactions.
  • Make calls to delinquent accounts for past due payments.
  • Ensure cleanliness of units and maintain the office and common areas.
  • Market the facility according to guidelines from the home office or District Manager.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the property, including lawn care and snow removal.
  • Handle emergency procedures as needed.
  • Participate in training programs and conferences.
  • Train assistant managers on policies and procedures.
  • Engage with the local community and attend events.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Open availability including weekends.
  • Ability to perform light maintenance and property upkeep.
  • Management experience in leasing, retail, or operations.
  • Previous experience in sales or marketing with a proven ability to generate business.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Energetic and open to new ideas and direction changes.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; college education is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for several hours and lift 25 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Completion of pre-employment background screening.
  • Previous experience in storage management is a plus.
