About The Position

The Part-Time Associate plays a crucial role in the success of Smart & Final by providing excellent customer service, maintaining store sections, and ensuring a great shopping experience for customers. This position involves stocking shelves, operating cash registers, and assisting customers with their purchases.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English and interact with the general public and co-workers.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in small group situations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and may order, receive and stock merchandise using proper equipment.
• Ensure proper pricing on merchandise and check product date codes for rotation.
• Stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays, and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepare perishable products for sale and set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Review invoices/bills for accuracy and maintain sanitation standards in all areas of the store.
• Operate a cash register, receive payment from customers, and process transactions.
• Process cash and/or credit refunds when approved by management.
• Verify customer eligibility when selling alcoholic beverages.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous assistance to customers.
• Assist customers with loading their purchases into their vehicles when requested.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties and record lost/damaged goods and store supplies.
