About the position

The Part Time AYCSS Advisor - Career Education Coach/Success Advisor at the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success is responsible for providing personalized advising, tutoring, and coaching to students. This role focuses on helping students develop confidence and motivation while navigating their educational and career paths. The advisor will conduct intervention meetings, assist students identified as 'at-risk', and facilitate career development through various methods, ensuring students acquire the necessary tools and resources for their professional goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with skills necessary to pursue their interests and aspirations.
  • Facilitate the delivery of career development curriculum through one-on-one and group appointments, clinics, and classroom lectures.
  • Help students develop their professional brand through instruction on resume writing, interviewing skills, and job searching.
  • Ensure service excellence and program metrics are achieved, recording client notes to improve student outcomes.
  • Assist with financial literacy, arranging free tutoring, and referrals to appropriate campus services.
  • Conduct one-on-one and group appointments with students to review learning strategies.
  • Provide student-facing assistance and education on learning management via workshops and strategy clinics.
  • Serve all students to enhance retention and degree completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and/or experience from which comparable skills are acquired.
  • Experience in student advising at the post-secondary level or experience with career/professional coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience in program delivery with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Technical competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced office setting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and have candid conversations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience facilitating and instructing small group workshops and classes.
  • Knowledge of trends in higher education and workforce development.
  • Experience with teaching and learning pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of the higher education system and related services.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $22.54 to $25.61 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
