About the position

The Bilingual Home Visitor for the HIPPY program is responsible for visiting families in their homes to provide instruction on educational materials designed to prepare preschool children for school. This part-time role involves executing the HIPPY curriculum, conducting weekly visits, and participating in training and group meetings to support parents in their educational efforts.

Responsibilities

• Execute the HIPPY curriculum with assigned practice children.
• Make weekly visits to participating families for role-playing activities.
• Participate in planning and execution of group meetings.
• Engage in weekly in-service training and staff development activities.
• Inform the HIPPY Manager of child/family progress and issues.
• Participate in all HIPPY sponsored activities.
• Notify supervisor of safety concerns immediately.
• Assist the Manager in maintaining an efficient record-keeping system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Some knowledge or experience with HIPPY curriculum preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a Microsoft Office Suite environment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
• Sensitivity to the needs of the low-income community.
• Culturally competent skills, understanding the impact of poverty on families.
• Ability to establish rapport with staff and families.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
• Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation.
