About the position

We are seeking a reliable and experienced part-time bookkeeper to join our team at J. Thompson Builders. As a bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing our financial records, preparing financial reports, and performing various accounting tasks. This is a remote position, and we offer a flexible schedule to accommodate your needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
• Prepare and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and insurance audits
• Perform monthly closing and financial reporting, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement
• Analyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Perform other tasks as assigned, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

Requirements

• 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry
• Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP and financial regulations
• Familiarity with construction industry accounting software and practices
