The Building Substitute at Kingston Hill Academy is a part-time role focused on providing coverage for absent staff members in various educational settings. The Building Substitute will implement lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and collaborate with permanent staff to ensure a positive educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans left by the absent teacher, TA, or other staff member
• Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment
• Support students in their learning activities and provide assistance as needed
• Manage classroom behavior and encourage student engagement
• Collaborate with permanent staff to ensure continuity in educational activities
• Follow school policies and procedures effectively

Requirements

• Valid RI Teaching Certification preferred
• Proficiency in tutoring and assisting students with diverse learning needs
• Experience in elementary education settings
• Strong classroom management skills to create an organized learning environment
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices
• Ability to work with individuals with autism or special education requirements
• Capacity to educate and engage students effectively
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques
