About the position
The Cardiac Sonographer position at a hospital in Naperville, IL, is a part-time role focused on obtaining and interpreting ultrasonic images of the heart. The role involves working under general supervision to perform various echocardiograms and assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms, while ensuring excellent patient care and communication.
Responsibilities
- Obtain two-dimensional ultrasonic images of the heart including 2D echocardiograms, 2D Doppler echocardiograms, and stress echocardiograms.
- Assist physicians in conducting transesophageal echocardiograms.
- Obtain pertinent patient data for interpretation by a board-certified cardiologist.
- Explain the purpose and duration of testing to patients to alleviate fears.
- Provide excellent customer service.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography or Echo School (preferred)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification within twelve months of position start date
- CPR certification required
- At least 1 year of cardiac sonography experience required.
