About The Position

The Part-Time Cashier at the Allen County Department of Health is responsible for managing financial transactions related to various community corrections programs. This role involves receiving payments, maintaining financial records, and assisting program participants with inquiries regarding their accounts. The position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to work in a potentially challenging environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in cash handling functions, banking, or a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn job-specific software programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and QuickBooks.
• Strong customer service skills to professionally accept payments and address inquiries.
• Ability to complete required Correctional EBP training programs and demonstrate competencies in recidivism risk reduction strategies.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to use financial software and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of evidence-based principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Receive fee payments from offenders and verify correct amounts.
• Complete approved receipts and return copies to offenders.
• Maintain computer entries on all fees received from offenders and their family members.
• Enter data into case management software for new offenders and payment of intake fees.
• Assist program participants and staff with questions regarding financial account balances, appointments, and class attendance.
• Manage class attendance balances and research attendance issues.
• Perform duties of the Cashier for administrative functions, including inputting claims and payroll data.
• Act as backup cashier during the absence of other cashiers.
• Perform all other duties as assigned, including overtime as required.
