About the position

Express is currently seeking a part-time Certified Payroll Specialist for a cabinet manufacturing company located in Tumwater, WA. This position is designed for individuals who are looking to work part-time, specifically 2-3 full days per week. The role offers a competitive compensation range of $24-$26 per hour, depending on experience. The Certified Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring that payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner for all employees, while also ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In this position, the specialist will utilize QuickBooks to manage and maintain payroll records effectively. They will be responsible for preparing and submitting certified payroll reports as required by both state and federal regulations. The role also involves handling payroll-related inquiries and resolving any issues or discrepancies that may arise, including those involving sub-contractors. Additionally, the specialist will assist in managing employee timekeeping systems and will be expected to maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information. The Certified Payroll Specialist will also support additional clerical and administrative tasks as needed, which may include filing, data entry, and office organization. Collaboration with HR, accounting, and project management teams will be essential to ensure seamless payroll and administrative operations. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and timely for all employees, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Utilize QuickBooks to manage and maintain payroll records.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Handle payroll-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies, including those involving sub-contractors.
  • Assist with the management of employee timekeeping systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.
  • Support additional clerical and administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, data entry, and office organization.
  • Collaborate with HR, accounting, and project management teams to ensure seamless payroll and administrative operations.

Requirements

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks with a strong understanding of payroll functions.
  • Experience with certified payroll reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in an office or administrative role is a plus.
