About the position
The Part-Time Coach for Men's Basketball at Lone Star College is responsible for coaching club and intramural sports teams, fostering student development in both athletic and academic pursuits. The role emphasizes positive leadership, effective communication, and mentorship, encouraging student athletes to excel on the field and in their education. The coach will also engage in recruitment efforts and participate actively in training sessions.
Responsibilities
- Provide positive leadership with strong communication skills
- Actively participate in practices to train on sport skills
- Encourage student athletes to succeed on the field and academically
- Compare discipline on the field to real-life decisions
- Recruit student athletes to attend LSC
- Work effectively with a diverse student population
- Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Positive leadership and communication skills
- Organizational skills and flexibility to meet demands
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Ability to travel to practices, games, and tournaments
- Ability to maintain relationships and act as a mentor
