About the position

The Part-time Cook for the Resident Community at the University of Colorado Denver is responsible for preparing nutritious meals for approximately 60 clients daily within the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) program. This role emphasizes compliance with health and food safety standards while enhancing the culinary experience for residents. The cook will work onsite at the Fort Logan campus, contributing to the overall wellness of clients through quality food preparation and menu planning.

Responsibilities

  • Create and follow a nutritional, weekly menu.
  • Cook and prepare large quantities of food for approximately 60 clients daily.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Food Safety Requirements by preventing cross-contamination and controlling time and temperature.
  • Operate and properly maintain large, commercial-grade cooking equipment such as grills, slicers, and ovens.
  • Support and adhere to University policies and procedures, maintaining required documentation accurately.
  • Maintain contact with vendors and ensure compliance with University procedures.
  • Order and verify food and supplies on a weekly basis, including potential pickups.
  • Ensure operational budget is followed and maintained.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned.

Nice-to-haves

  • Documented experience in food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Experience working in a residential addiction treatment program.
  • Experience developing and preparing menus.
  • Experience taking inventory and stocking supplies utilizing outside vendors.
  • Budget experience.
  • Documented experience operating large-volume cooking equipment.
