About the position

The Customer Service Associate at Sedgwick County Health Department plays a crucial role in providing exceptional public service to the community. This part-time position involves direct patient interaction, data entry, and ensuring compliance with fiscal processes. The associate will support the clinic team by welcoming clients, addressing their needs, and facilitating smooth operations during public health emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist internal and external customers.
  • Identify customer needs, clarify information, and research issues to provide information and resources to clients.
  • Schedule, reschedule, cancel, and send reminders for customer appointments.
  • Inform patients of financial obligations and payment requirements, encouraging initial payment of fees at the time of service.
  • Check-in and check-out clients politely and professionally.
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry.
  • Collect and enter insurance and/or financial information from clients.
  • Collect and verify client demographic data.
  • Accurately enter data into required electronic health records and other databases.
  • Create/update medical records.
  • Audit data to verify information is correct, timely, and complete.
  • Collect, document, and submit client payment information.
  • Collect and post client payments accurately according to protocol.
  • Complete and submit accurate reports of payments received per policy and procedure.
  • Maintain and audit assigned cash bag per protocol.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a customer service or administrative setting.
  • Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700 courses within 30 days of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • One-year experience in a medical office.
  • Bilingual in English and either Spanish or Vietnamese.
