About the position

The Part-Time Data Analyst at Finger Lakes Community College is responsible for conducting research and analysis to support internal reporting and decision-making processes. This role involves compiling and interpreting institutional data related to enrollment, retention, and student success, while ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information. The analyst will provide user-friendly data insights to various stakeholders and assist in policy development and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present institutional data such as enrollment, retention, and financial data.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of data dashboards and datasets using institutional data.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative data compilation and analysis to support continuous improvement of academic and administrative departments.
  • Respond to routine and ad hoc requests for data and information on institutional metrics.
  • Support divisional enrollment forecasting efforts utilizing predictive analyses.
  • Ensure common data definitions and best practices are observed across the institution.
  • Represent the Assessment, Planning and Continuous Improvement (APCI) office at select meetings.
  • Support other projects and duties as assigned by the Office of Assessment, Planning and Continuous Improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytic discipline or a field focusing on quantitative and data visualization skills.
  • At least two years of professional experience in data analytics.
  • Ability to handle sensitive data and confidential information.
  • Proficient in business intelligence and data visualization tools, especially advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Preferred experience with Power BI and willingness to learn Tableau.
  • Knowledge and experience with database queries and data manipulation using SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
