About the position

The Part-time Digital Media Arts Instructor at Washtenaw Community College is responsible for teaching various Digital Media Arts credit courses, including Graphic Design Technology, Photography, Video Production, Audio, Animation, and Web Design & Development. The role involves preparing and instructing courses, evaluating student progress, and maintaining an environment conducive to learning. Instructors may teach online and are expected to support student success while participating in professional activities related to curriculum and program evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) using appropriate learning experiences and materials.
  • Adhere to course syllabus and submit necessary data for Assessment Reports.
  • Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluations, written examinations, and observations.
  • Prepare and grade exams, assignments, and lab reports, returning graded assignments in a timely manner.
  • Actively support student success through guidance and advising.
  • Participate in professional activities including curriculum planning and program evaluation.
  • Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design or related field for Graphic Design Technology; minimum 3 years of professional work experience required.
  • Master's degree in Fine Arts, Photography, or photo-related discipline for Photography; equivalent professional experience required.
  • Associate in Arts or higher in Communication, Film, Video, or Art for Video Production; demonstrated professional experience required.
  • Associate degree in Audio Technology or closely-related field for Audio; minimum 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Associate in Arts or higher in Game Design, Digital Animation, or related field for Animation; demonstrated professional experience required.
  • Relevant qualifications for Web Design & Development as per WCC Teaching Requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Recent, successful, post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Online, remote, or virtual teaching experience.
  • QM Teaching Online certified.
