About the position

The Part-Time Early Interventionist (EI / ECSE) at World Of Words Early Intervention Services is responsible for providing early intervention services to children in various settings, including their homes, daycares, and the center in San Francisco. This role involves running group classes and individual sessions, targeting developmental areas based on each child's needs, and training parents and caregivers in effective intervention strategies. The position offers a flexible schedule and is ideal for candidates with a background in early childhood education or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Provide early intervention services in the child's natural environment (home, daycare, preschool, community play groups, etc.) and/or at the early learning center.
  • Run early intervention group classes at the early learning center on specified days and times.
  • Target all areas of development (communication, cognition, social-emotional, motor, adaptive/self-help) based on the child's individual needs.
  • Demonstrate developmentally appropriate activities for the parent/caregiver.
  • Provide parent/caregiver training in the use of play as a tool for intervention.
  • Conduct assessments in all areas of development using both informal and formal assessment tools.
  • Monitor the child's progress in all areas of development.
  • Consult with specialists as needed based on the child's individual needs.
  • Participate in staff training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood development or related field (e.g., child development, speech-language pathology, psychology).
  • Twelve or more early childhood education (ECE) units.
  • Experience working with young children with special needs (preferred).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Department of Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Must have valid CA Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to complete coursework in early intervention or early childhood special education, or possess relevant credentials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in working with families and/or daycare providers preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in providing parent/caregiver training preferred.
