About the position
The Part Time Elementary School Cook at Bright Horizons Children's Centers is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. This role emphasizes the importance of culinary education and aims to inspire young minds through diverse, from-scratch cuisine. The cook will work in a collaborative kitchen environment, focusing on high-quality ingredients and daily menu changes to enhance the dietary habits of over 350 students.
Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive meals for students.
- Assist in keeping an accurate inventory of kitchen supplies and place orders as needed.
- Participate in all aspects of meal preparation and cleaning, ensuring compliance with sanitation requirements.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain a positive work-life balance.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Relevant experience in a school or commercial kitchen is required.
- A degree in a related field is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures is required.
- Ability to practice proper health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
