About the position

The Part-Time Faculty position for ILL 256.1 Introduction to Digital Illustration at Syracuse University involves teaching a 3 credit hour course during the Spring semester of 2025. The role requires the instructor to guide students in exploring vector and bitmap computer applications for visual communication and illustration. The instructor will be responsible for preparing lectures, grading assignments, and maintaining office hours to support student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly studio classes per section.
  • Hold demonstrations and run critiques of student work.
  • Grade student assignments and evaluate their progress.
  • Hold office hours for student support.
  • Develop and/or update the class syllabus.
  • Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Present instruction based on course competencies and performance levels.
  • Meet all designated class periods and reschedule if necessary.
  • Submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Provide completed student evaluations and maintain a positive rapport with students and faculty.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of teaching experience.
  • Strong digital illustration ability.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
