Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, mentoring, and coaching to student athletes in skills and techniques necessary for athletic performance.
• Assist in planning and scheduling competitions and events in collaboration with other coaches.
• Establish and maintain safety standards for student-athletes and equipment.
• Create a positive atmosphere for student-athletes and support their academic progress.
• Assist with the recruiting process for prospective student-athletes.
• Help develop and manage the sports team budget and expenses.
• Ensure compliance with athletic regulations and report violations as necessary.
• Promote interest and attendance at athletic events and assist in fundraising efforts.
• Provide work direction to others.

Requirements

• Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, or related field; or a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with a Master's in a life science or related area.
• Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990.
• Evidence of understanding and responsiveness to diversity within student populations.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the university, community college, or high school level.
• Recent coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
