About the position

The Fiscal Support Specialist at NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to students, staff, parents, and community members through the Treasury Services office. This part-time position involves addressing a wide range of student service issues, including student accounts, financial aid, and veterans' benefits, while collaborating with various departments to ensure consistent service delivery across campus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information on student services to students, staff, parents, and community members through various communication methods.
  • Conducts assessments of student needs and engages in financial planning discussions with students.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for receipting, recording, refunding, and balancing tuition payments and college revenues.
  • Balances daily cashiering sessions and prepares deposits, assisting back-up cashiers as needed.
  • Researches and resolves student inquiries and disputes, handling difficult customer situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Handles college-wide processes related to emergency loan tracking, returned check processing, and account balance write-offs.
  • Prepares routine accounting reports such as aging reports and collections analysis.
  • Contacts students regarding past due accounts and maintains documentation for collection agencies.
  • Performs complex cashiering and refunding functions according to college policies and regulations.
  • Works with the AR Accountant to resolve credit card disputes and prepares check requests for scholarship returns.
  • Scans and indexes student and department transactions and documents.
  • Researches and resolves discrepancies related to core responsibilities.
  • Maintains cashier procedures and ensures relevant information is accessible to the public.
  • Regularly updates knowledge and skills through training sessions and staff meetings.

  • Knowledge of college, local, state, and federal regulations regarding billing, payment, and confidentiality.
