Part-Time Generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT/MLS II) - REG - Evenings

About the position

BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Part-Time Generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT/MLS II) - REG for Core Lab located at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. This is a Core Lab Position that includes Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Processing, and Urinalysis. The role is a Generalist Role, part-time, and benefits eligible, requiring in-office presence. The position involves evening shifts totaling 24 hours per week, specifically from 2pm to 10:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays (1 or 2 holidays per year). The laboratory utilizes various systems and equipment including Cerner Millenium (LIS), Epic, Sysmex WAM, Cellavision, Biorad Unity, and Wellsky, along with lab equipment such as Sysmex in Hematology, Roche in Chemistry, and Ortho-Visions in Blood Bank.

Responsibilities

• Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
• Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
• Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
• Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• Assesses technical and or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluates possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
• Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Life Sciences or related field
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB Registration
• Lab experience (preferred)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Less than 2 years of supervisory experience
