About the position

The Part-Time Career Coach for Graduate Career Services at Penn State's Smeal College of Business is responsible for supporting students in their career development and job search processes. This role involves providing personalized coaching, assisting with application materials, and developing job placement strategies, particularly for international students. The position is part-time, requiring up to 10 hours of work per week, and offers a flexible work arrangement that includes both on-campus and remote work options.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one career coaching to students on resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies, and career exploration.
• Assist students in developing personalized career plans and setting realistic goals.
• Act as a resource for international students regarding specific dates, deadlines, and job placement strategies for US domestic work and global opportunities.
• Help with events and information sessions, including registration for events.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in career services, higher education, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of career coaching and the job market.
• Experience in career/academic counseling/coaching, employer relations preferred.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in career services and student success.
