About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's in Goodyear, Arizona, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the checkout process. This position requires you to assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services, while also maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Your responsibilities will include monitoring the self-checkout registers, greeting customers, and thanking them for their business, inviting them back to shop at Lowe's. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. As a Head Cashier, you will use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will also be tasked with maintaining the in-stock area by preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and managing customer orders. Safety is a priority, and you will monitor cash levels in drawers, assist with security measures, and ensure compliance with housekeeping standards. This role requires you to operate various store equipment and maintain a safe and secure work environment. Overall, you will be accountable for delivering excellent service and supporting the overall operations of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Respond knowledgeably to customer and employee questions and guide them through projects when necessary.
  • Coach, develop, and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Provide supervision and support to the CSA Front End Team.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
