About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth operations at the front end of the store. This part-time position requires proactive engagement with customers, effective management of cash register activities, and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards. The role also involves coaching and training associates, handling transactions, and maintaining a secure and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
• Supervise and support the CSA Front End Team, providing coaching and feedback.
• Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders and receipts.
• Ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards in the store.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
• Conduct daily safety reviews and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience with common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
