About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's in Chillicothe, Ohio, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a positive shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services. This role requires you to be attentive and responsive to customer needs, moving throughout the checkout area to facilitate transactions efficiently. You will also be responsible for training and coaching other associates, ensuring they are equipped to provide excellent service. In addition to customer service, you will handle various tasks related to cash management, including processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds accurately. You will supervise the Front End Team, providing support and guidance to ensure that all associates are performing their duties effectively. Maintaining a clean and safe store environment is also a key aspect of this position, as you will monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and ensure compliance with safety standards. Your role will also involve preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and assisting with online orders. You will be expected to communicate effectively with customers and associates, providing information about products, services, and store policies. Overall, your contributions will help create a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for all customers at Lowe's.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality of registers and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers with alarms.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
