About the position

The Head Cashier position at Lowe's is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service and overseeing the checkout area. This role involves supervising cashiers, assisting customers with transactions, and ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience. The Head Cashier is responsible for training and coaching team members while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
  • Coach and develop Front End associates in their duties and sales opportunities.
  • Ensure the register area is prepared and stocked at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Monitor cash in drawers and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate risks to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.
  • Operate store equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
