About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth operations at the self-checkout registers. This role involves engaging with customers, assisting with transactions, training associates, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. The position requires a proactive approach to customer interactions and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
• Supervise and coach the CSA Front End Team, providing support and training.
• Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and verify product information for price matching.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards and monitor for security risks.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience with common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
