About the position

The Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth operations at the cash register. This role involves engaging with customers, assisting with transactions, and supervising the Front End Team to maintain a clean and safe store environment. The Head Cashier plays a crucial role in enhancing customer experience and supporting store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Coach and develop associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards in the store.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
  • Operate store equipment as needed for the role.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience with common retail technology like smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
