About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the checkout process. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers at self-checkout stations, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services. This position requires you to be mobile, moving throughout the checkout area to monitor multiple registers and assist customers as needed. You will also be responsible for processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds accurately, while maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. In addition to your customer service duties, you will be expected to coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. You will handle monetary transactions, ensuring proper change is provided and that cash drawers are monitored for security. Your role will also involve maintaining compliance with safety standards and monitoring for any signs of theft or security risks. You will be accountable for preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, ensuring all equipment is functional and stocked with necessary supplies. Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
• Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
• Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
• Ensure the register area is prepared and stocked at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Monitor cash in drawers and ensure compliance with security and safety standards.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management or Asset Protection.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
