About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. This part-time position requires proactive engagement with customers, effective management of cash register operations, and supervision of the Front End Team. The role emphasizes customer satisfaction, safety compliance, and efficient store operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
• Coach and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and ensure register area functionality.
• Monitor cash in drawers and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
