About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth transaction processes. This part-time role involves engaging with customers, training associates, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment while managing cash register operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise selection.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
  • Coach and develop Front End associates, providing feedback and training on departmental duties.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards in the store.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage cash drawer limits.
  • Assist in line vesting to improve checkout turnaround time.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
