About the position

The Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth operations at the cash register. This role involves engaging with customers, assisting with transactions, and supervising the Front End Team to maintain a clean and safe store environment. The Head Cashier plays a crucial role in enhancing customer experience while managing cash handling and store security protocols.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
• Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
• Coach and develop associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage stock at the register area.
• Monitor cash drawers and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management or Asset Protection.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
