About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless checkout experience for our customers. This position requires you to monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with them to recommend products and services. You will be responsible for greeting customers, assisting them with their transactions, and ensuring that they leave the store satisfied with their shopping experience. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area while standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting will be essential in completing transactions accurately and efficiently. In addition to customer service, you will be expected to provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and demonstrating products, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop associates, ensuring they are well-trained in their roles and responsibilities. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, as well as supervising the CSA Front End Team to maintain a high level of service. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe store environment. This includes monitoring cash levels in drawers, detecting signs of theft, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will prepare the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspect returned merchandise, and assist in line vesting to improve checkout efficiency. Your attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, and selecting merchandise.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds.
  • Supervise and coach the CSA Front End Team to ensure high service levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.
  • Monitor cash levels in drawers and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders.
  • Detect signs of theft and communicate them to management.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
