About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the checkout process. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services. This position requires you to be attentive and responsive to customer needs, moving throughout the checkout area to monitor multiple registers simultaneously. You will also be responsible for processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds accurately, while maintaining a clean and organized register area. In addition to your customer service duties, you will be expected to coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. You will handle monetary transactions, ensuring proper change is provided and assisting with any register activities. Your role will also involve monitoring the store for security risks, maintaining compliance with safety standards, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment. You will be accountable for various tasks, including inspecting returned merchandise, preparing the register area for shifts, and assisting with online orders. This position requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment. You will need to demonstrate effective communication skills, both with customers and team members, to ensure a positive shopping experience at Lowe's.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and ensure proper handling of customer orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas according to housekeeping standards.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers or associates who trigger alarms.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and maintain a safe and secure work environment.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
