About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the checkout process. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services. This position requires you to be attentive and mobile, as you will be moving throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting products to facilitate transactions. You will also be responsible for thanking customers for their business and inviting them back to shop at Lowe's, reinforcing a positive shopping experience. In addition to customer service, you will be expected to execute Lowe's customer service policies and procedures consistently. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties and sales opportunities. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will also be responsible for maintaining the register area, preparing it at the beginning and end of your shift, and ensuring that all equipment is functional. This includes stocking register supplies and inspecting returned merchandise for damages. You will monitor the cash in the drawers and ensure compliance with safety standards, including detecting signs of theft and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Overall, your role as a Head Cashier is vital in creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers and ensuring the efficient operation of the checkout process.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Respond knowledgeably to customer and employee questions and guide them through projects when necessary.
  • Coach, develop, and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Provide supervision and support to the CSA Front End Team.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and ensure proper handling of customer orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
