About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while managing the checkout process. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers at self-checkout stations, ensuring they have a smooth and efficient shopping experience. You will proactively engage with customers, offering assistance and recommendations for products and services. This position requires you to be attentive and mobile, as you will be moving throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting products to facilitate transactions. You will also be responsible for thanking customers for their business and inviting them back to shop at Lowe's. In addition to customer service, you will be expected to uphold Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to inquiries. You will also coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the store. This includes monitoring cash drawers, detecting signs of theft, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will prepare the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspect returned merchandise, and assist in managing online orders. Your ability to operate store equipment and maintain a secure work environment will be essential to your success in this role. Overall, you will be held accountable for various duties as assigned, contributing to a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality of registers and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders.
  • Monitor cash in drawers and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
