About the position

As a Part Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless checkout experience for our customers. This position requires you to monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with them to recommend products and services. You will be responsible for greeting customers, assisting them with their transactions, and ensuring that they feel valued and appreciated during their shopping experience. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area while standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting will be essential in completing transactions accurately and efficiently. In addition to customer service, you will be expected to provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and demonstrating products, and responding knowledgeably to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties and sales opportunities. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, as well as supervising the CSA Front End Team to ensure smooth operations. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe store environment. This includes monitoring cash drawers, detecting signs of theft, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will prepare the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspect returned merchandise, and assist in line vesting to improve checkout turnaround times. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help create a secure shopping environment for both customers and associates. Overall, this position requires a blend of customer service skills, retail experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, and selecting merchandise.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds.
  • Supervise and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders.
  • Detect signs of theft and communicate them to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
