About the position

The position involves assisting customers at self-checkout registers, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. The individual will be responsible for monitoring multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with customers, and recommending products and services. This role requires the ability to move throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving products to ensure accurate transaction completion. The employee will greet customers, assist them with their needs, and thank them for their business, inviting them back to shop at Lowe's. In terms of customer service, the employee will provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and demonstrating products, and responding knowledgeably to inquiries. The employee will also coach and develop associates, process sales transactions using a cash register, and ensure proper monetary change is provided to front-end associates. Additionally, the employee will monitor the register area, inspect returned merchandise, and assist with online orders and price matching. The role also emphasizes maintaining a clean and safe store environment. This includes monitoring cash drawers, detecting signs of theft, ensuring compliance with housekeeping standards, and operating store equipment as needed. The employee will be accountable for other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet, assist, and engage with customers on multiple registers.
  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Seek out customers to understand their needs and assist in locating and demonstrating merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond to customer and employee questions promptly and knowledgeably.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in departmental duties or sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and support to the CSA Front End Team.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management or Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and organized store environment.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
